Job Title: Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical Location: Sellafield, Cumbria Project: Nuclear Waste Encapsulation Rate: £43.29 per hour Start Date: ASAP Contract Type: 10 Month Contract About the Role We are currently recruiting for a Commissioning Engineer - Mechanical to join a high-profile nuclear project at Sellafield. The role involves overseeing the mechanical commissioning aspects of the encapsulation process for nuclear waste. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a critical infrastructure project that directly contributes to the safe and secure management of nuclear materials in the UK. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all mechanical commissioning activities are conducted in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner, in alignment with industry regulations and project timelines. Key Responsibilities Championing a Zero Harm safety culture and ensuring compliance with all nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety standards Conducting mechanical testing and commissioning activities across all project stages Assisting in the preparation and execution of test documentation, FOBs (Findings of Benefit), and Technical Queries (TQs) Performing mechanical tests for witnessing by third parties Applying and removing Temporary Commissioning Aids (TCAs) as required Accurately recording supporting data in line with test procedures Using completions management systems to track and manage commissioning tasks Ensuring all work is performed in accordance with the project schedule Participating in multi-discipline design reviews and working closely with the engineering team Essential Skills & Experience Time-served or equivalent qualification in a mechanical or piping engineering discipline Ideally qualified to ONC level or actively working towards this (or equivalent) Proven project commissioning experience in a similar environment IOSH Working Safely certification (or equivalent) Valid and relevant trade card Strong understanding of nuclear safety protocols and systems How to apply: If you are interested in finding out more about this opportunity, please apply via the link or contact me on (phone number removed) - and we will let you know if you have been shortlisted.
