The Role

We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Camberley.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the commissioning process, managing the commissioning team and coordinating testing activities from construction completion through to integrated systems testing and final handover.

You will ensure that commissioning activities are delivered safely, in the correct sequence and in accordance with the project programme, technical specifications and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  * Manage and coordinate the site commissioning team, specialist subcontractors and testing engineers.

  * Develop, maintain and manage the project commissioning plan and programme.

  * Coordinate commissioning activities across electrical, mechanical, controls and associated building systems.

  * Ensure systems are construction-complete and ready for testing before commissioning begins.

  * Manage commissioning schedules, system priorities, dependencies and interface dates.

  * Oversee pre-commissioning, functional testing, performance testing and integrated systems testing.

  * Manage test packs, commissioning records, inspection documentation and supporting certification.

  * Implement and maintain the commissioning tagging and system-status process.

  * Track test packs, outstanding actions, defects, snags and commissioning progress.

  * Coordinate energisation, isolation, LOTO and safe-system-of-work requirements with the relevant authorised persons.

  * Chair commissioning meetings and provide clear progress updates to project stakeholders.

  * Work closely with the Project Manager, Construction Managers, Design Team, Quality Team and client representatives.

  * Review commissioning procedures, technical submissions, RAMS, inspection plans and test documentation.

  * Witness testing and ensure results meet approved design criteria and project specifications.

  * Identify commissioning risks, programme delays and system interface issues, implementing recovery actions where required.

  * Manage the close-out of commissioning defects and outstanding works.

  * Support client demonstrations, training, system acceptance and final project handover.

  * Ensure commissioning documentation, O&M information and final records are complete and accurately maintained.

  * Maintain high standards of health, safety, quality and technical compliance throughout the commissioning process.

Experience and Requirements

  * Previous experience working as a Commissioning Manager on data centre, mission-critical or similarly complex MEP projects.

  * Strong understanding of data centre commissioning processes, testing sequences and system dependencies.

  * Experience managing multidisciplinary commissioning teams and specialist subcontractors.

  * Good knowledge of electrical and mechanical building-services systems, controls and BMS integration.

  * Experience managing commissioning programmes, test packs, tagging systems and handover documentation.

  * Strong understanding of energisation, isolations, LOTO and safe systems of work.

  * Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, commissioning schedules and technical documentation.

  * Relevant engineering, building-services or trade qualification.

  * SMSTS or equivalent site-management qualification preferred.

  * CSCS or ECS card appropriate to the position.

  * Strong leadership, organisation, communication and problem-solving skills.
