Commissioning & Critical Power Support Manager
Home-Based | Planned UK Travel | Compteitive Salary + Van + Benefits

Are you a Senior Commissioning Engineer ready to step up, without spending weeks at a time living on customer sites?

This is a newly created role with a global power generation OEM, as they grow their UK critical power projects division. You'll lead commissioning across complex diesel generator and critical power installations, and become the technical escalation point the wider engineering team turns to when projects get difficult.

It's a progression opportunity: you'll combine hands-on commissioning with increasing responsibility for commissioning strategy, contractor oversight and project delivery, building and shaping the commissioning function as the business grows, rather than inheriting one.

What you'll be doing

  * 

    Leading commissioning activities across complex diesel generator and critical power projects, from Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) through Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) to final customer handover.

  * 

    Configuring, programming and troubleshooting generator control systems, synchronisation and load sharing applications.

  * 

    Acting as the technical escalation point for complex controls, synchronisation and fault-finding issues.

  * 

    Coordinating commissioning engineers, subcontractors and dealer partners, ensuring work meets standards, health & safety and project requirements.

  * 

    Supporting and developing engineers, helping raise commissioning standards across the business.

What we're looking for

  * 

    Proven experience commissioning diesel generator systems in critical power, standby power or large infrastructure environments.

  * 

    Strong knowledge of generator control systems, synchronisation, load sharing, ATS equipment and LV switchgear.

  * 

    Hands-on experience configuring and fault-finding generator controllers such as ComAp, DeepSea or similar platforms.

  * 

    Confidence diagnosing complex electrical, controls and commissioning issues across generator installations.

  * 

    Someone motivated to progress into technical and commissioning leadership while staying close to the engineering.
