Commissioning Manager

Job Purpose
The Commissioning Manager is responsible for coordinating, planning, and overseeing the witnessing of commissioning activities across data centre projects. This includes ensuring high technical standards are maintained and evidenced with robust documentation and data.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Define the scope for and manage third-party commissioning agents (CxA) and managers (CxM).
Ensure commissioning witnessing activities occur and that high-quality documentation and evidence are produced.
Attend design coordination meetings (Stages 3 & 4) to guide on commission ability and help shape the commissioning approach.
Own, update and manage internal commissioning standards, processes, and document approvals.
Oversee Integrated System Testing (IST) and sign off completion certificates with key stakeholders.
Spot witness earlier commissioning stages and fully witness Level 5 IST.
Arrange and lead SOP and EOP workshops, commissioning presentations, and client witnessing sessions.
Collaborate on and approve electrical test plans, QA processes, load bank and power quality monitoring plans, and thermal imaging scope.
Lead lessons learned workshops post-IST, and coordinate root cause analysis (RCA) production and wider distribution for failed tests.
Review new or proposed customer contracts to identify any implications on commissioning.
Propose design changes based on commission ability reviews and third-party input.
Support operational teams to plan maintenance notifications for commissioning activities that may impact other customers.
Manage performance and contracts of commissioning consultants / owners' engineers, with support from cost consultants and project managers.
Oversee commissioning of any end-user fit-outs completed after IST.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or equivalent experience.
Strong technical background and general engineering capability.
Previous commissioning experience, ideally on data centre or other mission-critical projects.
Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Confident communicator able to lead presentations and collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and MS Project.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Ability to produce clear, high-quality technical documentation.
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
