Communication Support Assistant (BSL) - Nottingham

Start Date: ASAP
 Contract: Full Time, Term Time Only

Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary academy in Nottingham to recruit a Communication Support Assistant to support students with hearing impairments and communication needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive school community where staff are committed to building strong relationships with students and ensuring every young person has the opportunity to succeed academically and personally.

About the Role

As a Communication Support Worker, you will play a key role in enabling students with hearing impairments to fully access the curriculum and school environment. Your responsibilities may include:

Providing communication support for deaf or hearing-impaired students during lessons and school activities.

Supporting students using British Sign Language (BSL) and other communication strategies where appropriate.

Helping students access lesson content through adapted communication and learning strategies.

Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to ensure effective inclusion within the classroom.

Promoting student independence, confidence and engagement in learning.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should:

Have experience supporting deaf or hearing-impaired students in an educational setting.

Hold a British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or relevant communication support training.

Have a strong understanding of inclusive education and SEND support practices.

Be patient, supportive and committed to helping students reach their potential.

Hold a valid DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
