We are looking for a male Community Support Worker to join our team in Poole, where you’ll become a trusted companion to a young man we support. Your role will be to encourage him to live more independently—whether that’s supporting with everyday tasks at home, exploring new hobbies and interests, or even gaining experience through work placements.
Due to the needs George has, we can only accept applications from male candidates who have a background in health and social care. A Genuine Occupational Requirement applies under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010. This role is therefore only open to males, referring to the sex legally assigned at birth.
Please note: Autism Unlimited does not provide visa sponsorship. To be considered for this role you must hold a Full UK driving licence, however access to your own vehicle is not essential.
The role
George uses visual aids to help him plan and understand his day. We have been fortunate enough to work with George since the start of 2025 as he is taking part in our 'Futures' project and was welcomed in to our adult services programme in March.
George enjoys a range of activities from:
* Cinema trip to watch a new film
* Enjoying a singalong at the local Karaoke club
* Doing laps at the community pool
* During rainy weather, George opts to stay inside, either playing a board game or listening to music.
George is supported on a 1:1 basis and is reliant on his support staff. He requires assistance with personal care, medication and meal preparation.
As a valued member of our team, your role will involve a mix of meaningful support — from helping with daily routines like food preparation, shopping, and personal care, to accompanying residents as they access the community and pursue their interests. You may also assist with administering medication to ensure their wellbeing.
Hours:
20 hours per week
This would be a mixture of shifts Monday – Sunday
