Complex Needs Teaching Assistant – Liverpool

TeacherActive are proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded specialist provision in Liverpool that supports children and young people aged 11–19 with severe learning difficulties, complex needs, and autism. The school provides a caring, inclusive, and stimulating environment where pupils are encouraged to develop communication, independence, and life skills at their own pace.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Complex Needs Teaching Assistant to join this exceptional team and make a real difference in the lives of young people with additional needs.
The Role:
Providing individualised support to pupils with complex needs, both in the classroom and during personal care routines
Assisting with learning activities, sensory play, and therapeutic programmes under the guidance of teaching and therapy staff
Supporting communication and engagement using a range of tools such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory resources
Promoting pupils’ independence, confidence, and emotional well-being in a nurturing environment
Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to provide the highest standard of care and education
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience supporting children or young people with complex needs, learning difficulties, or disabilities
Comfortable with providing personal care and supporting physical needs
Patient, compassionate, and resilient, with a genuine desire to help pupils thrive
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff
Support Workers and Nursery Practitioners with relevant experience are warmly encouraged to apply
