Location – St Leonards on Sea, TN38
Client info – 18 yrs old female, requires feeding, soft diet, regular meals. Deterioration of swallow during seizure activity, vigilance for choking and aspiration during this time. PEG now in place to support diet. Sofia has to wear an all-in-one vest to stop pulling out. Constant monitoring during fluid and food intake.
Doubly incontinent, experiences some constipation, managed by diet and glycerine suppositories up to 1-2 times a week. Defendant on others for continence care. Unable to inform that needs to go to the toilet but there are subtle signs.
Non-verbal and there are no non-verbal clues. Communication anticipated by people that know her well. Indicates she is happy if she is calm and settled. Wheelchair user. Will move around the floor by wriggling. Sleeps on a mattress on the floor. Has ceiling hoists in the family home, unable to assist or co-operate in repositioning or hoisting. Support required to mobilize by SK’s back to mum’s chest. Enjoys standing sling. All medications are administered by others via PEG. 2 of the medications are administered orally covertly in food. VNS in situ swiped when a seizure starts. Buccal Midazolam is prescribed
