We are currently recruiting for a Senior Composite Design Engineer to join a world-class Formula 1 team based in Italy. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to work at the cutting edge of motorsport, designing and detailing advanced composite structures and components that will go from concept to the race track.
Role Overview:
In this position, you will report to the Head of Composite Design and take full ownership of a variety of projects, ensuring their successful design and execution within the fast-paced and high-performance world of Formula 1. You will be responsible for all aspects of composite component development, from the initial concept to production-ready designs, working in collaboration with other departments to bring designs to life.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design and detailing of advanced composite structures and components for F1 chassis.
Take ownership of composite design projects from concept through to race track deployment.
Work closely with the chassis and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and scalable.
Use CATIA CAD software to produce detailed designs and ensure all technical specifications are met.
Liaise with suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of materials and components.
Deliver projects to the highest standard, ensuring all deadlines and performance criteria are met.
Work with minimal supervision in a highly dynamic and demanding environment.
Maintain an ongoing focus on continuous improvement in design, manufacturing techniques, and material technologies.
Candidate Profile:
Minimum of 5 years' experience in composite design within Formula 1 (F1 experience is mandatory).
Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering, Motorsport Engineering, or a relevant field.
Proven ability in composite design within high-level motorsport (F1 experience only).
Excellent CAD skills (experience with CATIA is essential).
Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques and material technologies.
Highly motivated and committed team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
Creative and analytical, with excellent problem-solving abilities.
Strong project management skills and the ability to stay highly organised and efficient under pressure.
Ability to deliver work of the highest standard in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
