Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager / Project Manager to oversee the mechanical services installation on a new build data centre project located in Newport, Wales. The successful candidate will be site-based and responsible for managing a team of 10 plumbers and fitters, ensuring smooth coordination with the non-working site supervisor, and driving the project forward in line with programme and quality standards.
The project includes full mechanical pipework services such as process water, LTHW, CHW, domestic services, and drainage. This role is critical to the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of works and requires strong leadership, communication, and technical oversight.
Experience:
* Background in plumbing/fitting trade, with career progression into supervisory or management roles
* Proven experience managing mechanical installation teams on construction sites
* Familiarity with large-scale commercial or industrial projects (data centres preferred but not essential)
* Experience dealing with main contractors, principal contractors, and coordinating site logistics
* Comfortable using digital platforms to manage and upload project documentation
* Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, and basic 3D model navigation (Autodesk)
Qualifications:
* SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – required
* First Aid at Work – desirable
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems including CHW, LTHW, process pipework, drainage, and domestics
* Effective communication and organisational skills
* Right to work in the UK and available for an immediate start (no later than 14th July)
Benefits / Rate:
* Contract duration: Initial phase 10 months, with potential continuation into next project phase
* Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM (flexibility possible with cover coordination)
* Rate: Competitive (dependent on experience and qualifications)
