Job Description

Job Title: Construction Skills Tutor Location: HMP Norwich Salary: From £30,000 per annum Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Role Overview: We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Construction Skills Tutor to join a well-established vocational education provider based on-site at HMP Norwich. This is a rewarding opportunity to support learners within a secure environment, equipping them with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence to gain employment in the construction industry. In this role, you will deliver sector-relevant training that leads to CSCS accreditation, alongside providing wider employability, personal development and essential skills support (including Maths, English and Digital Skills). You’ll help learners build their capabilities while ensuring the delivery is inclusive, engaging, and aligned with current industry standards. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity working within a supportive team and making a tangible difference in the lives of learners preparing for employment post-release. Key Responsibilities: * Plan and deliver high-quality construction skills training and classroom-based vocational sessions. * Support learners to achieve qualifications that lead to CSCS certification and employability in the construction sector. * Develop flexible learning resources and strategies to meet the needs of diverse learner groups. * Embed essential skills (Maths, English, Digital) and personal development into the construction curriculum. * Deliver sessions that meet Ofsted standards and internal quality assurance frameworks. * Support learners’ progression by creating engaging individual learning plans and providing ongoing guidance. * Assist with the creation and maintenance of schemes of work, lesson plans, and learning materials. * Motivate and retain learners through effective teaching, mentoring and support strategies. * Monitor progress and maintain accurate records in line with audit and compliance requirements. * Contribute to continuous quality improvement and curriculum development initiatives. Essential Criteria: * Level 3 teaching qualification (e.g. AET, PTLLS, Cert Ed or equivalent). * Occupational background in construction with at least 2 years’ industry experience. * Level 3 Health & Safety qualification or above. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. * Confident classroom presence and ability to engage diverse learners. * Strong organisational and planning abilities. Desirable Criteria: * L3 Assessor qualification (e.g. CAVA, A1, D32/33). * Experience delivering training in secure or custodial environments. * Experience delivering employability or personal development content.
