Location: Wellingborough
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

Have you spent years on site, mastering your trade? Ready to pass that knowledge on in a way that truly matters? An alternative provision in Wellingborough is seeking a passionate Construction Skills Tutor to work with students aged 11-16 who've struggled in mainstream education.
This is a chance to use your tools, experience, and real-world know-how to help young people rebuild confidence and find purpose.
About the Role:
You'll be leading practical, skills-based sessions in areas such as:
Carpentry, bricklaying, plastering, painting & decorating, and site safety
Vocational projects that bring learning to life and promote teamwork
Lessons tailored to individual needs, abilities, and interests
More than just teaching trades, you'll be helping students develop confidence, discipline, and a sense of direction. Many of them will have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs-so patience, empathy, and consistency are key.
What We're Looking For:
A strong background in construction or multi-trade skills
Experience working with young people (mentoring, training, or tutoring preferred)
Teaching qualifications are welcome but not essential (PTLLS, AET, QTS/QTLS, etc.)
A calm, confident presence and a positive, supportive approach
A passion for giving disengaged learners a second shot at success
Someone who values practical education and wants to make a real impact
