Contract Manager (Repairs & Maintenance)

£500 per day (umbrella)
Location: Essex
A local authority is recruiting a Contract Manager within their Repairs and Property Maintenance service on an initial 6‑month temporary basis. This role will require office presence 2-3 days per week.
About the Role
The postholder will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of repairs and property maintenance services, which are delivered by Morgan Sindall Property Services.
They will lead both the day‑to‑day operational management of the service and the demobilisation of the existing contract, ensuring continuity of service and a smooth transition.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise staff and manage associated budgets.
Provide reports, briefings and professional advice to senior leadership and committees when required.
Lead the effective management of the repairs and property maintenance function.
Coordinate and manage the demobilisation of the current contract.
Produce periodic performance reports covering service quality and financial status.
Support all aspects of compliance and assist with complaints, Member enquiries and Ombudsman cases.
Undertake any other duties appropriate to the grade and responsibilities of the role.Essential Skills & Experience
Experience in contract management, either client‑side or contractor‑side.
Strong negotiation abilities.
Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills.Desirable Skills & Experience
Professional housing qualification.
Significant senior‑level experience within housing management.
Strong understanding of housing legislation.
Experience developing and operating tenders.
