One of our valued local government clients, the London Borough of Haringey, is currently seeking a Contract Monitoring Officer to support their vital Connected Care Service. This is a temporary but highly impactful role, ideal for candidates experienced in emergency response, assistive technology, or supporting vulnerable adults.
You’ll be part of a dedicated team responding to emergency calls and providing face-to-face assistance, helping to protect the wellbeing and safety of vulnerable residents in their own homes.
About the Role
The Connected Care Service provides a 24/7 emergency response and alarm system to residents across Haringey. As a Monitoring and Responding Officer (MRO), you will answer and triage incoming calls using Jontek Answerlink (or similar monitoring platform), dispatch support, and when required attend in person emergencies. You'll also assist in the maintenance of assistive technology devices.
This is a shift-based position across three working patterns, including weekends, nights, and public holidays. Candidates must be comfortable working flexibly and independently.
Key Responsibilities

Respond to emergency alarm calls using the Jontek Answerlink platform (or similar)
*
Provide compassionate and prompt in-person support at service users’ homes
*
Carry out routine maintenance of assistive technology (e.g., battery changes, troubleshooting)
*
Assess situations and determine appropriate interventions or referrals
*
Maintain clear and accurate digital records
*
Adhere to safeguarding protocols and escalate concerns appropriately
*
Build rapport with residents in sensitive and sometimes challenging circumstances
Requirements
Essential:
*
Experience in a call monitoring/emergency response role
*
Confident working with call-handling systems (e.g., Jontek Answerlink, PNC, Verklizan)
*
Full UK driving licence and ability to pass a council vehicle assessment
*
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
*
Competent with basic IT systems and digital record-keeping
*
Understanding of safeguarding and vulnerable adult support
Desirable:
*
Experience working in social care, housing support, or mobile emergency response
*
Basic technical skills for maintaining alarm/telecare equipment
*
Awareness of public sector emergency protocols
Additional Pay & Shift Benefits
This role comes with enhanced pay benefits for working unsocial hours:
*
Weekend shifts: Paid at 1.5x hourly rate
*
Unsociable hours (8pm–6am): Paid at 1.33x hourly rate
*
Weekend unsociable hours: Paid at 1.83x hourly rate
*
Bank Holidays: Paid at 2x hourly rate
All training, uniform, and council fleet vehicles (subject to assessment) will be provided.
