Locum Contracts & Procurement Lawyer – Local Authority
Location: London
Duration: 3-Month Contract (Strong Potential to Extend)
Rate: £50 - £65 per hour
Office Attendance: Once a Week
About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Contracts and Procurement Lawyer to join a forward-thinking local authority on a 3-month contract, with the strong possibility of extension.
In this role, you will work under the guidance of a Senior Contracts and Procurement Lawyer. You’ll be providing legal support on a broad range of contract and procurement matters, and contributing to important public sector projects.
This role is ideal for someone with 2-3 years PQE and experience in local government law, looking to build on their skills while supporting a highly experienced legal team.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide practical legal advice and assistance on a wide range of contract and procurement matters, ensuring compliance with public procurement regulations.
*
Assist in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating public contracts.
*
Support the Senior Contracts & Procurement Lawyer in managing and resolving procurement disputes.
*
Conduct legal research and provide clear guidance to internal stakeholders on contract and procurement issues.
*
Manage a varied caseload, handling a range of contract matters from start to finish.
*
Work collaboratively with other legal teams and departments to support the wider objectives of the Council.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
*
Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FILEX or equivalent with 2-3 years PQE.
*
Solid experience in contract and procurement law, ideally within a local government context.
*
Excellent understanding of the public procurement framework and local government law.
*
Proven ability to manage a varied workload with minimal supervision.
*
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both legal and non-legal teams.
