About the Role
Are you a proven leader in civil engineering project delivery? my client is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee multiple projects across the Midlands for a reputable and growing civil engineering firm based in Worcestershire.
This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll take full responsibility for the end-to-end management of build teams, project schedules, site progress, and commercial performance. You’ll act as the bridge between operations, clients, subcontractors, and senior management — ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to an exceptional standard.
What You’ll Be Doing
Team Leadership & Operations
*
Lead, manage, and motivate the Build Team across various projects.
*
Allocate resources, manage staff performance, and identify training needs.
*
Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture through mentoring and regular team meetings.
*
Oversee quality assurance and ensure compliance with safety and legal standards.
Project Delivery
*
Manage project lifecycle from handover to completion across multiple sites.
*
Create and maintain project programmes, timelines, and milestones.
*
Interpret designs/drawings and ensure work is completed to specification.
*
Liaise with all third parties: clients, sub-contractors, engineers, and local authorities.
Commercial & Financial Oversight
*
Prepare and manage budgets, estimates, cost plans, and contracts.
*
Monitor financial targets and support the Senior Management Team in cost control.
*
Oversee procurement of plant, materials, and subcontractors.
*
Drive resolution of commercial issues, disputes, and payment delays.
Compliance & Reporting
*
Prepare and review RAMS and ensure safety compliance on-site.
*
Maintain accurate project documentation, diaries, reports, and variations.
*
Work closely with HR on staffing matters and recruitment planning.
*
Support continuous improvement across internal systems and processes.
What We’re Looking For
*
Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager in civil engineering.
*
Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and contracts.
*
Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills.
*
Competence in construction programming and financial management.
*
Ability to travel to multiple Midlands-based sites (with 2 days/week in the Worcestershire office).
