Contracts Manager – Civils / Infrastructure

Location: East London / Hertfordshire / Essex
Salary: DOE + Package

We are currently seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join a well-established and growing contractor, working across a range of civil engineering, infrastructure and groundworks projects throughout East London, Hertfordshire, Essex and the surrounding areas.

This is a senior position suited to an experienced Contracts Manager with a strong civils background and a proven track record of managing multiple projects and site teams simultaneously.

The Role

As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing approximately 3–4 live projects at any one time, with individual contract values of up to £20 million.

You will be responsible for the overall operational, commercial and client-facing management of your projects, working closely with the senior management team, clients, site teams and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

  * Managing multiple civils, infrastructure and groundworks contracts from pre-construction through to completion

  * Overseeing projects with values of up to £20m

  * Managing and supporting multiple Site Managers, Project Managers and site teams

  * Acting as a key client-facing representative for the business

  * Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders

  * Attending regular client meetings, progress meetings and project reviews

  * Being actively involved in tenders, bids and pre-construction activities

  * Reviewing programmes, project progress, costs and delivery performance

  * Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards

  * Managing subcontractors and supply chains

  * Identifying and resolving operational issues across multiple sites

  * Providing leadership and support to site-based management teams

  * Reporting project performance to the senior management team

About You

The ideal candidate will have a vast background within civil engineering, with significant experience managing groundworks, infrastructure and civils projects.

You will need to be:

  * An experienced Contracts Manager within the civils / construction sector

  * Proven in managing projects up to £20m in value

  * Comfortable managing 3–4 projects simultaneously

  * Strong and confident when dealing directly with clients and stakeholders

  * Experienced in attending client and project meetings

  * Experienced in tenders, bids and pre-construction

  * Strong in managing and developing site teams

  * Commercially and operationally aware

  * A confident communicator with strong leadership skills

  * Able to work across East London, Hertfordshire, Essex and surrounding areas

Desirable

Experience working on Data Centre projects would be highly advantageous, particularly candidates with experience delivering large-scale civils, infrastructure, groundworks and enabling works within live or technically demanding environments.

Candidates from a strong groundworks / civil engineering subcontractor background are particularly encouraged to apply.
