Contract Manager – Social Housing Refurbishment
Location: SE London
Salary: £70,000 - £75,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Package
About the Client
Our client is a leading family-owned construction company with over 50 years of experience delivering high-quality new-build, refurbishment, retrofit, roofing, and reactive repair projects across London and the Southeast. With a turnover exceeding £55 million, they work with both private and public sector clients, delivering projects ranging from £5m to £50m for schools, hospitals, housing associations, local authorities, and commercial organisations.
Role Purpose
The client is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to oversee designated construction projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and client satisfaction. The successful candidate will coordinate all aspects of contract management, including planning, resource allocation, risk management, cost control, and team leadership, while acting as the main point of liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage assigned projects, ensuring efficient planning, delivery, and quality standards.
* Manage direct reports, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth coordination and adherence to programme schedules.
* Monitor project progress, risks, opportunities, and cost performance, providing timely reports to senior management.
* Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations and promote a positive safety culture on-site.
* Support procurement, training, and development of team members to maintain high levels of competency and performance.
* Maintain accurate records, allocation sheets, and documentation to meet contractual and company requirements.
* Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring their specifications and requirements are fully met.
Qualifications & Skills
* Educated to Degree Standard – NVQ Level 7
* SMSTS Certification
* Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and MS Project
* Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects and multidisciplinary teams
