Job Description

Contracts & Procurement Lawyer Rate: £50-£60 per day - Negotiable DOE Contract Length: 3-6-month initial contract Northwest Local Authority Flexible Hybrid Working Spencer Clarke Group have teamed with a local authority in the Northwest region who are seeking an experienced and motivated Contracts and Procurement Lawyer. You will provide high-quality, timely, and practical legal advice across a broad range of commercial, contract, and procurement law matters, supporting major projects, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the Council's governance and contract management arrangements. Key Responsibilities Provide expert legal advice and support on commercial, contract, and procurement matters, including drafting and negotiation of contracts and frameworks. Ensure all contracting and procurement activities comply with the Public Contracts Regulations, Council Constitution, and governance arrangements. Advise on contract disputes, risk management strategies, and complex commercial transactions. About You Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. Solicitor or Barrister). Proven experience in contract drafting, management, and dispute resolution, as well as in commercial and procurement law. Up-to-date knowledge of contract and procurement law, EU and UK legislation, and local government governance. Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment (desirable).
