We are working with a leading manufacturer of conveyor and materials handling systems, seeking a skilled professional to join their growing engineering team. The Role As a Controls Commissioning Engineer, you will play a key role in the commissioning of advanced conveyor systems both on-site and in the factory. You’ll also contribute to the design and programming of electrical control systems, ensuring seamless integration and performance. This role involves regular travel across Europe to customer sites, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and hands-on problem-solving in different environments. Key Responsibilities for the Controls Commissioning Engineer Role: Commissioning of conveyor systems at customer sites across the UK and Europe Factory-based testing and initial commissioning of systems Design and programming of electrical control systems (primarily Siemens S7 – TIA Portal) Creation of circuit diagrams, safety documentation, and technical specifications Troubleshooting and fault-finding on electrical systems Building and wiring control panels Supporting service teams with site-based requirements Collaborating with engineering, production, and project teams What We’re Looking For Proven experience in controls design and commissioning Strong knowledge of Siemens S7 – TIA Portal (essential) Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Understanding of machinery directives and functional safety Excellent communication and documentation skills Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Europe Desirable Skills Experience with Sistema or Pascal Familiarity with barcode scanning applications Software debugging and modification experience Benefits for the Controls Commissioning Engineer Role: Competitive salary: £50,000 – £55,000 25 days holiday plus bank holidays Pension contribution Bupa private health cover Full travel expenses paid Work on cutting-edge automation projects across Europe Join a supportive, forward-thinking engineering team ATA Recruitment are working exclusively with this client we will be conducting a short list starting today, we will conduct the 1st interview over the phone and the successful candidates will then be forwarded to our client with our recommendation.
