Job Vacancy – Controls Engineer (Contract, Outside IR35)
Location: Belfast, UK
Duration: 3-6 Months
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Rate Options:

  * £45–50 per hour (Outside IR35) – Flights & accommodation covered by contractor

  * £40-£45 per hour (Outside IR35) – Client covers travel expenses

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong maintenance background to provide on-site support within a busy FMCG packaging production environment in Belfast. My client need someone who is able to travel to Belfast on the W/C 15December to do a hand over for a few days before the Christmas shut down and then start back up art beginning of January.
This is a hands-on role requiring both rapid response to breakdowns and the ability to drive long-term improvements such as root cause analysis, system backups, and training delivery.
Key Responsibilities

  * Provide on-site controls support for production, minimising downtime.

  * Diagnose, troubleshoot, and modify Siemens PLC and HMI systems.

  * Carry out electrical fault finding and structured troubleshooting.

  * Manage and implement automation software backup schedules.

  * Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

  * Deliver training and knowledge-sharing sessions for maintenance and production teams.

  * Work flexibly across engineering tasks, supporting production reliability and efficiency.

Essential Experience

  * Siemens S7 (STEP 7 and TIA Portal).

  * WinCC HMI configuration and troubleshooting.

  * Strong fault-finding and electrical troubleshooting skills.

  * Proven maintenance controls engineering background.
