Position Overview
The Control Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and optimizing control and automation systems across their chemical production facilities. This role requires hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley control systems and a solid understanding of process control within a regulated industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain control systems for chemical manufacturing processes, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
*
Program, configure, and troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, and related platforms) and associated hardware.
*
Integrate process instrumentation, drives, and control networks into existing and new systems.
*
Support plant operations by diagnosing control system issues and implementing effective solutions.
*
Develop and maintain documentation, including control logic diagrams, network architectures, and system manuals.
*
Collaborate with process engineers, maintenance, and operations teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient system performance.
*
Lead or support control system upgrades, expansions, and modernization projects.
*
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
*
Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance and operations personnel.
Qualifications
*
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
*
Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial automation or control systems engineering within the chemical, petrochemical, or process manufacturing sector.
*
Proven experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and related software (e.g., Studio 5000, RSLogix, FactoryTalk View).
*
Strong understanding of process control principles, instrumentation, and industrial networking (EtherNet/IP preferred).
*
Familiarity with safety instrumented systems (SIS) and process safety standards (ISA, IEC 61511) is a plus.
*
Experience with data acquisition and SCADA systems integration.
*
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
*
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, production environment.
Preferred Skills
*
Experience with batch processing systems (ISA-88 / S88 standards).
*
Knowledge of chemical process operations, including blending, distillation, and reactor control.
*
Exposure to control system cybersecurity best practices.
*
Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar tools for electrical/control system design.
