Conventional Machinist – Bridgeport Miller / Centre Lathe Turner – Negotiable Rates DOE – Days Monday to Friday – Overtime Available – Temp to Perm
BCS Connect are recruiting for skilled Conventional Machinists to join a busy engineering workshop in the Brownhills area. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced machinists from a tool room or precision engineering background to secure long-term, stable employment with overtime available.
This Conventional Machinist role is offered on a temp to perm basis, working Monday to Friday on day shifts with overtime at enhanced rates. Pay is negotiable depending on experience and skills, and there is the opportunity to become a permanent member of the team following a successful trial period.
As a Conventional Machinist you will be responsible for producing precision components using traditional workshop machinery. Daily duties will include setting and operating Bridgeport milling machines and centre lathes, interpreting detailed engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, working to tight tolerances, and ensuring high quality finishes on all machined parts. You will also be expected to carry out basic machine maintenance, inspect finished components using measuring equipment such as micrometers and verniers, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the workshop.
This role is ideally suited to candidates with a strong tool room background or experience in conventional milling and turning within an engineering, manufacturing, or production environment. Knowledge of machining one-offs, small batches, and bespoke components is highly advantageous. A keen eye for detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently are essential.
