Are you an experienced Costing Analyst looking for an opportunity to make a real commercial impact within a manufacturing environment?
We’re looking for a Costing Analyst to join our Finance team and work closely with the Finance Business Partner – Operations, providing accurate, timely and commercially meaningful cost insight across the business.
This is a hands on role where your analysis will go beyond the numbers. You’ll play an important part in helping Finance and Operations understand product costs, manufacturing performance, stock valuation and cost movements — supporting better decisions around pricing, profitability, efficiency and inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
· Create, maintain and continuously improve systems and processes used to calculate product costs in line with accepted Cost and Management Accounting principles, ensuring accuracy and integrity across manufactured, outsourced and purchased product standards.
· Work closely with Operational colleagues to ensure cost assumptions reflect current manufacturing methods, supplier pricing, operational efficiencies and product specifications.
· Support the annual standard cost roll-up process, including preparation, review, investigation of movements and communication of material cost changes to relevant stakeholders.
· Calculate, report and interpret stock valuations in accordance with relevant accounting standards, ensuring inventory, work in progress and finished goods values are supported by accurate cost data and appropriate controls.
· Analyse and identifying key drivers, trends and risks, and provide clear commentary and recommendations to Finance and Operations management.
· Support in the maintenance of the costing databases of sourced product purchases and supplier cost information, ensuring it provides a reliable basis for product costing, margin analysis and annual standard cost updates.
· Provide senior management with analysis of perpetual inventory, cycle counts, physical stock counts, stock adjustments and inventory variances, advising on corrective actions and process improvements where required.
· Develop and maintain financial models, reports and dashboards that improve visibility of cost movements, product profitability, inventory risk, obsolete stock, slow-moving stock and manufacturing performance.
· Support budgeting, forecasting and business planning by providing cost assumptions, production cost analysis, margin insight and sensitivity analysis for key cost drivers.
· Provide ad-hoc analysis of cost, margin, manufacturing efficiency and stock information for directors and senior managers, including clear explanations, supporting data and recommended actions.
