Location: East Hertfordshire (Hybrid Working)
Contract Type: 3-Month Ongoing Contract
Hourly Rate: £30 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: Full-time
About the Role We’re seeking a proactive and experienced Council Tax Officer to join the Revenues and Benefits team at East Hertfordshire Council for a 3-month ongoing assignment.
This is a hybrid position with a strong emphasis on telephone-based customer service, providing vital support to residents on all aspects of Council Tax billing, registration, and the application of discounts and exemptions in line with current legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Handle a high volume of inbound calls relating to Council Tax queries.
Register new accounts accurately and apply discounts, exemptions, and other adjustments.
Ensure all activities comply with current Council Tax legislation and council procedures.
Maintain detailed and accurate customer records using the Academy system.
Provide professional, empathetic, and solution-focused support to residents.What You’ll Need
Proven experience working as a Council Tax Officer within a local authority setting.
Strong understanding of Council Tax legislation and processes.
Confident telephone manner with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in using the Academy system.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.Why Join
