Counter Sales Assistant
Location: Huddersfield
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm, plus alternate Saturdays (1 on, 1 off)
Salary: £30K DOE
About the Role:
A well-established timber and building materials supplier is looking to recruit a motivated Counter Sales Assistant to join their team.
This customer-facing role involves supporting both trade and retail customers with product advice, order processing and top-quality service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Serving customers at the trade counter, ensuring excellent service at all times
* Processing sales orders, quotations, and handling payments accurately
* Providing product knowledge, stock information and recommending alternatives where needed
* Keeping the trade counter area clean, organised and inviting for customers
* Coordinating with the warehouse team to ensure efficient order fulfilment
* Assisting with general branch duties when required
About You:
* Experience in customer service, sales, or a trade counter role (ideally within timber, builders merchants, or construction supply)
* Confident communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner
* Strong organisational skills and accuracy
* Ability to work well within a team in a busy environment
* Proactive and customer-focused attitude
* Basic IT competency for processing orders and checking stock
