Cover Supervisor – SEMH Secondary School
Location: Near Godalming, Surrey
Start Date: January 2026 or sooner
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
A specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) secondary school near Godalming in Surrey is seeking a reliable and resilient Cover Supervisor to join our dedicated and supportive team from January 2026 or earlier if available.
This is a rewarding and varied role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about helping students re-engage with learning. The successful candidate will supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring continuity of learning and promoting positive behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver pre-prepared lessons to classes in the absence of the teacher.

Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
*
Build positive relationships with students, promoting engagement and progress.
*
Support pupils with SEMH needs by using de-escalation and trauma-informed strategies.
*
Assist with administrative tasks and provide classroom support when not covering lessons.
*
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral support and leadership teams.
About You

Able to build rapport with young people, especially those with additional needs.

Resilient and adaptable, with strong behaviour management skills.

Able to follow classroom plans and school procedures effectively.

Experience in SEMH or alternative education settings is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.
