Tradewind Recruitment is currently seeking confident, enthusiastic, and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across a variety of secondary schools throughout Teesside.

This is an excellent opportunity for sports coaches, activity leaders, youth workers, graduates, aspiring teachers, or anyone with experience leading groups of young people who would like to gain valuable experience within a secondary school environment.

Previous school experience isn't essential; however, experience leading groups of young people or delivering structured sessions is essential.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of the usual class teacher. Lessons and resources will already be prepared, so your main responsibility will be managing the classroom, keeping pupils engaged, and ensuring they complete the work set.

Your responsibilities may include:

Supervising classes across KS3 and KS4
Delivering pre-planned lessons and activities
Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies
Keeping pupils engaged and on task
Providing support and guidance where appropriate
Creating a positive and productive classroom environment
Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons
Supporting different departments and subject areas across the schoolYou'll have the opportunity to work across different secondary schools, allowing you to build your classroom experience while enjoying flexibility around your availability.

Experience leading groups of young people or delivering structured sessions is essential
Experience as a sports coach, activity leader, youth worker, tutor, mentor, teaching assistant, or similar would be particularly suitable
Confidence managing groups of young people
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good behaviour management skills
A proactive, adaptable, and reliable approach
A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
