Role and Responsibilities
The Credit Control Manager will lead and develop the credit control function to optimize cash flow, minimize financial risk and ensure robust credit management practices across the business. This strategic role is accountable for shaping and executing the company’s credit control strategy, overseeing customer credit assessments, debt recovery processes and aligning credit policies with wider commercial objectives. The role requires a strong balance of analytical insight and cross functional collaboration to support sustainable business growth and financial stability.

Key responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a forward-thinking credit control strategy aligned with the company’s financial goals and risk appetite.
* Provide strategic input into customer onboarding, credit risk exposure and commercial decision making.
* Advise senior leadership on credit risks and mitigation strategies based on current market and customer trends.
* Establish and regularly review credit policies, processes and procedures to ensure robust internal controls and compliance.
* Oversee credit checks, setting and reviewing customer credit limits and terms in line with risk profiles.
* Manage contract and relationships with credit rating agencies and credit insurance partners.
* Manage escalated and high-value or sensitive accounts, including negotiation and resolution of disputes.
* Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service and Legal support to balance commercial opportunities with financial prudence.
* Present regular reports and strategic insights to senior leadership on cash flow, debtor performance and risk exposure.
* Lead the continuous improvement of processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy and responsiveness.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in a senior credit controller or credit risk management role, ideally within a fast paced, growth focused business.
* Strong commercial and strategic acumen, with the ability to interpret financial data and influence decision making.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and build consensus.
* In depth knowledge of credit control principles, financial legislation and risk management frameworks.
* Proficient in credit management systems and financial reporting tools.
