Job Description

Damp and Mould Surveyor – West London based Council £300 per day Umbrella or Deemed Payment (Inside IR35) 36 hours per week 6-month rolling contract Overview of the Role: We are currently seeking an experienced Damp and Mould Surveyor to join the Repairs Client Team at a West London based Council. This key role is responsible for overseeing a wide range of property inspections and repair projects, ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and maintained to the highest standards. The successful applicant will focus on: Damp and mould investigations and remediation Disrepair and complex repair works Day-to-day reactive maintenance Refurbishment projects (kitchen, bathroom, windows, etc.) Void property inspections and works Pre, mid and post inspections of works Ensuring compliance with the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018This position plays a crucial role in improving housing conditions, supporting enforcement of repair standards, and driving service excellence through effective contractor and resident engagement. Responsibilities: Lead on damp, mould and disrepair inspections, ensuring correct diagnosis and remedies Manage pre-works, in-progress and post-works inspections across all repair types Identify structural and systemic defects and instruct remedial action or escalation Maintain full compliance with legal and H&S frameworks, including the Human Habitation Act 2018 Provide expert surveying advice on complex repairs, refurbishment projects and RTB inspections Work collaboratively with residents, internal teams, and contractors to deliver timely and high-quality repairs Analyse recurring issues to help reduce future disrepair claims and legal escalations Ensure detailed record-keeping and reporting through approved systems and toolsRequirements: Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent technical qualification/experience Extensive knowledge of building pathology, including damp, leaks, and condensation diagnosis In-depth understanding of landlord repair obligations and relevant housing legislation Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in social housing maintenance or disrepair surveying Strong communication, report writing and IT skills (Site Audit Pro, housing systems) Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative “one team” approach Experience managing contractors and ensuring works meet quality and compliance standardsContact: To apply or find out more, contact James at Service Care Solutions - (phone number removed) or via email at (url removed)
