We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Data Centre Operations Cabling Technician to support the smooth running of high-performance data centre environments. This role involves installing, configuring, patching, and maintaining a variety of network, server, and storage hardware, as well as ensuring structured cabling is deployed to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will work across bespoke environments for both internal teams and external clients, deploying hardware from a variety of leading manufacturers. You will use internal ticketing systems to log and resolve issues within agreed SLAs, troubleshoot faults, and replace or reconfigure components including servers, switches, firewalls, and storage arrays.
The position will also involve installing and balancing intelligent PDUs, checking and repairing structured cabling links between racks, and liaising with cabling teams where necessary. You will help maintain accurate records in DCIM software, contribute to procedure improvements, and work closely with data centre managers and specialist teams to deliver operational excellence.
You will produce monthly reports on power, space, and cabling capacity, adhere to strict change control processes for critical work, and ensure environments remain secure, compliant, and presentable at all times.

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive technician with strong cabling skills, experience in server and network deployment, and a passion for delivering top-quality service. You must be confident working independently or as part of a wider operations team, able to manage multiple priorities, and committed to maintaining high technical and housekeeping standards within the data centre.
Essential Skills & Experience
*
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a managed hosting, public cloud, or private cloud data centre environment
*
Proven ability to deploy, configure, and support servers, storage, and networking hardware
*
Strong cabling standards with experience in structured copper and fibre cabling, including testing and termination
*
Familiarity with data centre design principles, including power, cooling, and redundancy
*
Competent with productivity and documentation tools such as Microsoft Office and email client software
*
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
*
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
*
Willingness to join a 24/7 on-call rota and travel occasionally by train or air (costs covered)

Experience with data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) systems
*
Knowledge of intelligent PDU installation and monitoring
*
Experience producing capacity reports and supporting expansion projects
