Data Protection Partner – Brighton

Are you a seasoned Data Protection specialist looking to take the next step in your career? We are partnering with a prestigious Top 50 law firm renowned for its commitment to innovation and excellence. The firm is seeking a Data Protection Partner to lead and expand its thriving Data Protection practice.

The Opportunity

As a key figure within the firm, you will be instrumental in advising a diverse client base across multiple industries on complex data protection matters. You will have the autonomy to develop the practice further, leveraging the firm's strong market position and existing client relationships. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Partner or an experienced Senior Associate looking to take on a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities

  * Leading on data disclosures and transfers, ensuring regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.

  * Drafting and negotiating data protection clauses in commercial agreements.

  * Advising on data protection consents, policies, and compliance frameworks.

  * Providing guidance on data protection considerations in disputes.

  * Managing Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and other data subject rights.

  * Ensuring direct marketing compliance in line with GDPR and PECR.

  * Conducting GDPR compliance audits and delivering training for clients.

  * Handling ICO investigations and regulatory interactions.

  * Advising on personal data breaches and implementing response strategies.

  * Conducting Privacy Impact Assessments to identify and mitigate risks.

  * Overseeing data protection aspects of database sales and purchases.

  * Reviewing and advising on website privacy notices and cookie compliance.

About You

  * A qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with extensive experience in Data Protection law.

  * Strong track record of advising on high-value, complex data protection matters.

  * Established client following or the ability to generate new business.

  * Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring junior lawyers.

  * Commercially astute with a strategic mindset to drive practice growth.
