Health & Safety Officer - Research Environment (12-Week Contract)
Headington, Oxford | Full-Time | £20.38/hr | Life Sciences Lab
We're seeking an experienced Health & Safety professional for a dynamic research department in Oxford. This 12-week contract offers the chance to make a real impact in a fast-paced academic setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead departmental health & safety compliance and audits
Investigate incidents and support occupational health referrals
Manage laboratory safety processes and critical equipment maintenance
Oversee Display Screen Equipment (DSE) assessments and PEEPs
Support sustainable lab practices and safe hazardous waste disposal
Engage with governance and regulatory compliance (HTA, radiation, biosafety)
About You:
Background in life sciences or technical discipline (degree or equivalent)
Strong knowledge of H&S legislation in lab environments (esp. Biosafety Level 2)
Experience in university or hospital research settings
Confident communicator with strong organisational skills
Familiarity with human tissue and radiation safety protocols a plus
Start Date: ASAP
Location: On-site, Oxford (Old Road Campus)
