I’m currently on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Deputy Manager to join a fantastic children’s residential home in Preston.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a well-established organisation dedicated to providing high-quality care and support for children and young people with complex needs, including Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
As Deputy Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home — ensuring compliance with Ofsted, promoting safeguarding, and driving positive outcomes for every young person.
Key Responsibilities

Support the Registered Manager in the overall running of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted, the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and the Quality Standards.

Lead, supervise, and motivate a team of Residential Support Workers to deliver person-centred, trauma-informed care.
*
Take responsibility for the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
*
Promote the welfare, safety, and wellbeing of all children and young people.
*
Contribute to care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
*
Support Ofsted inspections, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure continuous improvement.
*
Mentor, coach, and support staff through training, supervision, and performance management.
Essential Criteria
*
Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
*
Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
*
At least 1 year’s experience in a residential childcare setting supporting children with EBD, ASD, or SEMH.
*
Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding.
*
Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
Desirable
*
Experience deputising or managing within a children’s home.
*
Understanding of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and positive behaviour support.
