Role Summary
Support the Registered Manager in delivering a safe, high-quality residential service for children and young people, ensuring safeguarding, compliance, staff leadership, and positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities

Support referrals, assessments, care planning, and transitions for children and young people.
*
Safeguard residents through effective risk management, partnership working, and compliance with statutory guidance.
*
Assist in managing, supervising, and developing Senior Support and Support Workers.
*
Ensure the home meets all regulatory, safeguarding, health & safety, and quality standards.
*
Promote young people’s participation, inclusion, and life-skills development.
*
Maintain accurate records, placement plans, and performance monitoring.
*
Work with external agencies, local authorities, and safeguarding boards.
*
Support service monitoring, on-call duties, and community engagement.
Staff & Resource Management
*
Provide supervision, appraisals, training, and performance management.
*
Support staff deployment and rota management.
*
Ensure effective communication, ICT use, and budget compliance.
Essential Requirements
*
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and willingness to work towards Level 5.
*
Minimum 2 years’ residential childcare experience, including 1 year in a senior role.
*
Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations and standards.
*
Experience supervising staff, managing risk, and care planning.
*
Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills.
*
Full driving licence and flexibility to work shifts, weekends, sleep-ins, and on-call.
