Workforce Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a trusted and well-established client in the residential childcare sector. We are seeking a Deputy Manager to join a dedicated team in a children’s residential home. About the Role:
As Deputy Manager, you will assist the Registered Manager with the overall management of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and operational delivery. You will provide professional support, guidance, and supervision to a team of Residential Childcare Practitioners, promoting a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home and act as lead in their absence
* Provide consistent supervision, coaching, and guidance to care staff to ensure professional development and compliance
* Manage staff rotas, ensuring appropriate cover and continuity of care
* Ensure all safeguarding policies, procedures, and recording meet regulatory standards
* Oversee the implementation and review of each child’s care plan, monitoring progress and adapting support as needed
* Build effective relationships with children, staff, families, and external agencies
* Contribute to inspections and audits, maintaining high standards in line with Ofsted requirements
* Participate in the on-call rota and support with emergency situations where required
Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a residential children's home setting
* Strong experience in rota management and staff supervision
* Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – essential
* Working towards or willing to complete Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children & Young People)
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle – essential
* Sound knowledge of safeguarding, care planning, and regulatory frameworks
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
* Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as part of a shift rota
