Job Description

Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home Location: Kingsbury NW9 Salary: £35,000 per year Job Type: Full-time (including evenings, weekends and on-call rota) We’re looking for an experienced and confident Deputy Manager to join a passionate, supportive team in a 4-bed residential children’s home for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). The role involves working closely with the Registered Manager to help run the home day-to-day, support staff, and ensure high standards of care and safeguarding are maintained. This is a hands-on role that requires someone calm, organised and emotionally resilient. You’ll lead shifts, supervise staff, contribute to care planning and behaviour support, and take responsibility when the Registered Manager is off-duty. A key part of the role is building strong, stable relationships with both the young people and the team around them. We’re a team that values openness, consistency and teamwork. Key responsibilities: * Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home * Lead shifts and take full responsibility in the Manager’s absence * Supervise and mentor staff, including carrying out regular supervisions * Help manage the staff rota, annual leave, and sickness cover * Maintain up-to-date care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans * Support staff to implement care plans in line with each child’s individual needs * Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with procedures * Support inspections, audits and regulatory compliance * Build positive relationships with young people, using a therapeutic approach * Attend and contribute to reviews, planning meetings and multi-agency forums * Monitor medication systems and ensure MAR charts are accurate * Support with recruitment, staff induction and ongoing development * Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming home environment What we’re looking for: * Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification (or equivalent) * At least 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential setting * Experience in a senior or supervisory role * Confident dealing with safeguarding and challenging behaviours * Good written and verbal communication skills * Able to lead by example and support team development * Emotionally resilient and calm under pressure * Willing to work towards Level 5 Diploma in Leadership if not already held Please note: An enhanced DBS check and references are required for this role.
