Meadows Edge care home was established in 1981, it is a family run care home in Boston, Lincolnshire. They are now looking to recruit an experienced Deputy Manager, who will assist in managing operations within the home in order to reach or exceed goals while assuring the provision of high-quality care.
Job Summary
The Deputy Manager supports the manager by overseeing daily operations, ensuring high standards of person-centered care, and managing staff, while also maintaining regulatory compliance and managing budgets and resources.
Key duties include providing direct care, assessing resident needs, supervising staff, recruiting and developing team members, managing care plans, and acting as a leader in the manager's absence. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as relevant experience and often a qualification in nursing or a related health and social care field.
Key Responsibilities but not limited to:-
Leadership & Management: Lead and supervise the care team, providing support and guidance to ensure high standards of care, covering for the manager during absences.
Care Delivery: Assess resident needs, contribute to person-centered care plans, and deliver direct care as required.
Staff Support: Supervise, support, and performance manage staff; assist in recruitment and development of new care workers.
Compliance & Quality: Ensure the service complies with regulatory requirements and national care standards, monitor service delivery, and assist with quality audits.
Operational Duties: Manage staffing levels, assist with planning social activities, and help maintain operational systems and appropriate records.
Communication: Establish and maintain effective communication with staff, residents, their families, and external partners like health and social services.
To provide management and leadership cover in the absence of the Manager
Proactively participates in the quality and compliance process
Required Skills & Experience
Experience: Previous direct experience in delivering care is highly beneficial.
Supervisory Skills: Strong team leading, supervisory, and performance management skills.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse range of people.
Leadership & Problem-Solving: Ability to work under pressure, handle challenging situations, and make sound decisions.
Knowledge: Understanding of care documentation, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
A valid Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN/RNLD) pin is often an essential requirement for a Deputy Nursing Home Manager role.
A minimum of an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care is typically required, with many employers preferring or supporting candidates to achieve a Level 4 or 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care to support career progression to a Registered Manager role.
PCS, Atlas E- MAR and QCS system experience would be beneficial.
