Deputy Manager – Residential Children’s Home Location: Matlock (100% site-based; occasional support at nearby homes may be required) Salary: £40,000 per annum (depending on experience) + benefits Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Hours: Monday to Friday (day shifts) with flexibility for early mornings, evenings, and participation in an on-call rota Are you an experienced Deputy Manager ready for a meaningful new opportunity? We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager to join our team in a Residential Children’s Home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in residential childcare and strong leadership skills who is committed to delivering high-quality, therapeutic care in a nurturing and supportive environment. About the Role: As Deputy Manager, you will be a key leader in the home, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the service. You’ll play a central role in promoting a safe, structured, and emotionally supportive environment that enables children and young people to thrive. You’ll be expected to lead by example, applying trauma-informed practices to guide your work and support your team. Key Responsibilities: * Lead and manage daily shifts, ensuring a safe, stable environment for young people * Promote equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice throughout the home * Maintain staff rotas to ensure appropriate coverage based on training and experience * Participate in the on-call system and provide emergency support when required * Mentor, supervise, and develop staff to promote performance and retention * Support recruitment, induction, and development of new team members * Oversee and monitor care plans and documentation to ensure compliance and effectiveness * Attend external safeguarding and review meetings as a representative of the home * Support the delivery of high standards of care in line with regulatory requirements Essential Criteria: * Experience in a residential childcare setting * Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) * Previous leadership experience (e.g., as Senior Support Worker) * Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural challenges * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * IT proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) * Willingness to work flexibly, including sleep-ins and on-call duties * Ability to build trusting, professional relationships with children * Energetic and enthusiastic approach to engaging in activities with young people Desirable Criteria: * Full UK driving licence * Experience working in a therapeutic or trauma-informed setting * Working towards or achieved Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification * Specialist training in relevant areas (e.g., safeguarding, SEND, trauma) * Strong understanding of child development and attachment theory Why Join Us? * Be part of a supportive and child-focused team * Make a lasting difference in the lives of vulnerable young people * Enjoy opportunities for professional growth and career development
