We are currently recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) secondary school in Stockport, seeking an experienced and passionate Design and Technology Teacher to join their team from September.
About the Role:
This is a full-time teaching position, delivering the full Design and Technology curriculum across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, practical lessons that inspire creativity while supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, including emotional and behavioural challenges.
The role will require flexibility, patience, and a strong understanding of how to adapt teaching to meet diverse learner needs. You will have access to specialist facilities and be part of a supportive and experienced team focused on improving outcomes for all students.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach across the entire D&T curriculum, including resistant materials, product design, graphics, and food technology.
Plan, prepare and deliver creative and differentiated lessons that engage SEMH learners.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively and positively.
Work closely with support staff and the wider pastoral team to ensure the individual needs of students are met.
Contribute to the school’s inclusive and nurturing ethos.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
Proven experience teaching Design and Technology at secondary level.
Experience working with students with SEMH needs or within an alternative provision setting is highly desirable.
Strong behaviour management skills and a compassionate, resilient approach.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet varied learning styles and needs.
