Job Description

Are you a Mechanical design engineer looking for clear progression in to a Senior Design Engineer's role. Do you have experience within a Manufacturing environment with Tooling design experience. Are you used to dealing with multiple departments / department heads working collaboratively to achieve the end Product and result.

Job Purpose Statement / Nature of work

In this role you will be required design to produce both 2D and 3D tooling designs in line with technical and commercial requirements using Inventor and Autocad. You will be responsible for the upkeep of all documentation and files relating to the design of tooling systems used in the manufacture of parts for building systems. In this role you will need to be highly organised and work with the production team in the development of prototypes in line with company requirements.

· Designing punch tool and crimping prototype systems and developing existing tooling designs.

· Monitoring tooling assembly builds to ensure quality.

· Monitoring and improving processes.

· Studying work orders, drawings and making controlled alterations to assist with tooling development.

· Working to set procedures and tolerances.

· Maintain continuity among colleagues by documenting, reporting and communicating on actions, irregularities and continuing needs.

· Work and liaise with various departments and external suppliers in the development of tooling systems.

Key attributes:

· Excellent working knowledge of SolidWorks software, Auto Cad (other packages will be trained)

· Ability to understand and interpret technical drawings, geometric tolerances and specifications.

 * Understanding of manufacturing processes.

 * HNC or equivalent in mechanical engineering.

 * Ability to react positively and calmly with sudden and unexpected changes in demand.

 * Capable of working accurately, calmly and effectively under pressure and to tight deadlines

 * Good organisational and communication skills.

 * Good interpersonal skills, with experience of building professional relationships across the business
