About the Company
We are recruiting on behalf of one of the UK’s largest privately-owned housebuilders, known for delivering high-quality residential developments in sought-after locations. Due to continued growth, they are now looking for an experienced Civil/Design Engineer to join their Design & Technical team.
Role Overview
As a Civil Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of housing developments by producing and managing detailed infrastructure designs, coordinating with consultants, and ensuring the successful delivery of engineering packages. You will be involved from the early site appraisal stage right through to final adoption and sign-off.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with civil engineering experience in residential construction, looking to work for a respected developer with excellent career prospects.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare and manage Section 38, 104, and 278 designs and applications
*
Produce drainage, external works, and foundation layouts using AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, and PDS
*
Liaise with local authorities, utility providers, and statutory bodies to secure approvals
*
Coordinate and manage external civil engineering consultants
*
Oversee planning condition discharges related to engineering
*
Support site teams with technical advice and value engineering
*
Lead on-site design meetings and resolve engineering issues promptly
*
Assist in the preparation of technical appraisals for land acquisition
Requirements
✅ HNC or higher in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
✅ Previous experience with a housebuilder or civil engineering consultancy
✅ Strong understanding of highway design, drainage systems, and foundation engineering
✅ Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroDrainage, and PDS software
✅ Knowledge of Building Regulations, Sewers for Adoption, and Highways Standards
✅ Excellent communication and project coordination skills
✅ Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
