The Opportunity
Are you a Design Engineer with 3+ years' experience looking to take the next step in your career?
A highly reputable steel fabrication company in the Southwest is seeking a motivated Design Engineer to join their growing technical team. You'll work on a variety of structural steel projects-ranging from portal frames to multi-storey steel buildings-while being supported with continued development and clear progression opportunities.
This is a great fit for someone ready to take more ownership of design work and step toward senior-level responsibility over time.
Key Responsibilities
Produce detailed design calculations and drawings for steel-framed structures, including portal frames and beam & column systems
Assist in the preparation of connection designs, layout plans, and fabrication details
Collaborate with internal teams including fabrication, erection, and project management
Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards (e.g. EN 1090, Eurocodes)
Liaise with clients, architects, and engineers to ensure smooth delivery of design packages
Support the development of junior team members as you grow in your own roleAbout You
Minimum 3 years of experience in structural or steel design (e.g. steel-framed buildings, cladding, connections)
Degree or HND/HNC in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
Strong working knowledge of relevant codes (Eurocodes, BS EN 1993, EN 1090)
Competent in CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Tekla, Advance Steel) and structural design tools
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Effective communicator with a proactive and collaborative mindset
