The Power Supply Design Engineer is responsible for the electrical design, development, and delivery of high-performance AC-DC switch-mode power supplies, ensuring they meet performance, cost, and manufacturability targets. The role requires 5+ years of hands-on experience in power supply design and includes both technical design work and mentoring of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development
Design all sections of AC-DC switch-mode power supplies.
Optimise designs to meet technical specifications, cost, and project timelines.
Ensure manufacturability, reliability, and ease of integration for mass production.
Select and manage electronic components considering availability, cost, and obsolescence.
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary R&D teams (electrical, mechanical, manufacturing).
Innovate and apply new technologies and topologies in product design.
Documentation & Project Delivery
Create and review engineering documentation to support manufacturing handover.
Participate in design reviews, testing, and verification activities.
Ensure all project deliverables and milestones are met.
Report design status and resolve technical queries.
Customer & Cross-functional Support
Work closely with other departments to meet project needs and customer expectations.
Provide ongoing technical support and respond to design-related queries.
Key Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
5+ years experience in AC-DC switch-mode power supply design.
Strong knowledge of:
Power topologies
EMC and thermal management
Magnetic, analogue, and digital circuit design
Experience in design from concept through to production.
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Self-motivated, collaborative team player with a proactive approach.
