Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Manager to join a growing UK engineering and machinery manufacturer.

This is not a traditional maintenance-focused Engineering Manager role. We’re looking for someone with a strong background in engineering design, machinery manufacture, CAD and product development to lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering function.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you’ll take responsibility for engineering delivery, technical standards, team development and continuous improvement.

The Role

  * Lead and develop the Engineering Department

  * Manage engineering workloads, resources and priorities

  * Lead CAD/Design and Product Development activities

  * Oversee engineering projects from concept through to manufacture

  * Review engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation

  * Drive standardisation of machine drawings and engineering practices

  * Lead NPD, product improvement and engineering innovation

  * Manage engineering change control and documentation

  * Work closely with Production, Projects, Quality, Procurement and Sales

  * Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes and efficiency

What We're Looking For

  * Engineering leadership experience within manufacturing, machinery or engineering

  * Strong mechanical and/or electrical engineering knowledge

  * Experience in machinery design and manufacture

  * Strong CAD knowledge – SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar

  * Experience within a project-based manufacturing environment

  * Product Development / NPD experience

  * Strong leadership, planning and stakeholder-management skills

  * Degree, HNC or HND in a relevant engineering discipline advantageous

Experience within special purpose machinery, capital equipment, automation, materials handling, processing equipment or engineering OEM environments would be particularly relevant.
