A respected mid-tier main contractor with a £100m turnover, this business has earned a solid industry reputation for delivering high-quality construction and refurbishment schemes across London and the surrounding regions. With a focus on façade remediation and recladding, they are known for their quality-first approach, strong internal systems, low staff turnover, and genuine career development opportunities.
As part of their continued growth in the façade and external envelope sector, they are looking to appoint a Design Manager to join the team and lead design coordination across complex, high-value projects.
The Role
The Design Manager will take ownership of the design and technical delivery process on façade remediation and recladding schemes ranging from £5m to £15m, ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, including BSR. The role will report to the Contracts Manager and work closely with internal teams, consultants, and the supply chain.
Key responsibilities include:

Managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery
*
Coordinating between consultants, façade specialists, subcontractors, and internal teams
*
Ensuring design compliance with BSR regulations, fire safety guidance, and project specifications
*
Reviewing drawings, technical submissions, and identifying coordination issues
*
Managing design deliverables in line with project programme and delivery milestones
*
Supporting procurement by coordinating technical input and subcontractor packages
*
Leading design workshops and attending client and consultant meetings
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in design management, ideally from a main contractor or specialist subcontractor environment, with specific experience in façade, cladding, or remediation projects.
Requirements:

Previous experience as a Design Manager (or Senior Design Coordinator stepping up)
*
Strong understanding of façade systems, fire performance, and regulatory compliance
*
Experience working on remediation or recladding projects is highly desirable
*
Ability to manage complex design coordination across multiple stakeholders
*
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
*
Familiarity with BSR regulations and Building Safety Act requirements
*
Based within commuting distance of Central London
