Design Manager | £250m Flagship Data Centre | East London | Permanent | Immediate Start

This is leading Tier 1 contractor who have just broken ground on a major flagship contract  a £250m, 12-storey new-build data centre in East London

This is one of the most high-profile technical schemes currently underway in the UK, and the team is now looking to strengthen their design function with an additional Design Manager to support delivery through the early construction phases.

The Company
An expanding international contractor specialising in high-tech, mission-critical and data-centre construction, with operations across Ireland, the UK and Europe.

They're known for strong technical capability, repeat business with blue-chip clients, and well-run delivery teams.

The London division continues to grow, driven by several high-value, engineering-heavy projects for blue-chip clients. This data-centre is a standout scheme in their portfolio, with more complex programmes already secured and following behind it.

The Role
•  Support the existing Design Manager and Project Director on a major 12-storey data-centre new build
•  Coordinate subcontractor design packages across envelope, structural, MEP and specialist cooling/technical systems
•  Run and track RFIs, approvals and consultant interfaces
•  Maintain design intent, buildability and compliance from piling through superstructure and beyond
•  Lead design workshops and manage programme alignment between consultants, engineers and site teams
•  Full-time, site-based role in East London

The Project
•  £250m, 12-storey, 35,000m² high-density data centre 
•  One of the UK's largest live data-centre builds, now in early works with piling underway
•  Built to BREEAM Excellent with advanced cooling, heat-recovery and renewable-energy systems
•  Complex engineering environment with long-term delivery through to 2028

Requirements
•  5+ years' experience as a Design Manager with a main contractor
•  Strong technical background  ideally data centres, complex engineering or large-scale new builds
•  Ability to manage CDP packages, consultant coordination and technical approvals
•  Confident communicator capable of running design coordination independently
•  Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly technical environment
