Our client, a leader in the water industry, is currently seeking a Design Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is pivotal in delivering technical solutions to meet the company's project demands, ensuring technical compliance, quality, and appropriateness of all solutions delivered.
The successful candidate will lead design consultants and multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver solutions on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership and accountability for the technical appropriateness of project solutions throughout the project life cycle.
Ensure design work complies with customer and statutory standards, regulations, and specifications.
Manage contracts with external design consultants, ensuring duties are discharged and appropriate actions are taken if not.
Oversee the development and delivery of asset designs that meet project objectives.
Manage multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, consultants, and partner companies in producing project solutions.
Produce and manage project engineering budgets and schedules for review.
Implement change control processes to track and manage project developments.
Ensure engineering outputs comply with Health and Safety Legislation, Business Processes, Quality Management Systems, and best practices.
Evaluate designs and support supply chain selection for specialist input on designs.
Collaborate with other technical, operational, maintenance, and strategic stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
Experience in design and management, particularly in the water industry.
Understanding of foul water drainage systems and potable water mains.
Knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
Degree or HNC qualification in civil engineering.
Membership of a recognised engineering institution (Incorporated Engineer or Chartered Engineer or working towards membership).
Excellent communication skills.
Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook.
Strong people management, time management, and project design management skills.
