The Client
A growing North West contractor delivering high-quality new build, refurbishment, regeneration and fit-out projects across the Residential, Commercial, Education and Industrial sectors. The Role
As Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate the design process from pre-construction through to project completion, ensuring that design information is delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with programme requirements.
Working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and operational teams, you will play a key role in managing design risk, driving innovation and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the design process across multiple projects.
Lead design team meetings and ensure actions are progressed effectively.
Review and manage consultant appointments and design deliverables.
Coordinate architectural, structural and MEP design information.
Ensure design programmes align with construction programmes.
Identify and manage design risks and opportunities.
Review drawings and specifications for buildability and compliance.
Support value engineering initiatives without compromising quality.
Liaise with clients, local authorities and statutory bodies where required.
Assist project teams in resolving technical and design-related issues during construction.
The Candidate
Essential
Previous experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
Strong understanding of construction methods, building regulations and technical design processes.
Experience delivering projects within residential, commercial, education or industrial sectors.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Full UK Driving Licence.
Desirable
Degree, HNC or HND in Construction Management, Architecture, Architectural Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience working within Design & Build procurement routes.
Knowledge of BIM processes and digital construction platforms.
Professional membership with CIOB, RIBA, CIAT or similar.
