Design Manager
Annual Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 plus £6,500 car allowance
Location: Gateshead (with travel to projects around the UK)
Job Type: Full-timeWe are seeking a Design Manager to join our clients Design Department, reporting directly to the Head of Design Team.
This role involves managing individual schemes with the aim of coordinating all technical information between external consultants and internal departments.
The Design Team supports various Operating Companies within Structural & Civil Engineering, Construction, Building Services, and Facilities Management, providing services such as Structural Steel Detailing, Design Management and Coordination, Architectural support, and Quality Assurance.
Day-to-day of the role:
Manage the design process from conception through to completion.
Ensure all necessary approvals are obtained from stakeholders and local authorities, including Section agreements and service applications.
Provide technical support during the feasibility stage and throughout the construction phase.
Issue all design information to relevant internal and external departments within correct timeframes.
Coordinate all legal aspects related to various agreements, including arranging bonds, guarantees, warranties, and insurances as required.
Identify the need for and manage external consultants, agreeing on fees, scope of service, timescales, and deliverability.
Control the submission of building regulations and warranty applications.
Produce a detailed design programme identifying key dates and a critical path.
Support, manage, and develop the internal design team.
Conduct quality reviews to ensure construction adheres to design specifications.
Coordinate and obtain planning and building control approvals and discharging conditions.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proficient in AutoCAD, REVIT, 3D Studio Max, ArchiCAD, HEVACOMP, Adobe Photoshop, ASTA Power Project, Microsoft Project, Primavera, Project Commander, and 4Projects.
Experience with all Microsoft Office applications.
Strong understanding of design processes and legal aspects in construction.
Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Proven track record in design management within relevant industries.Benefits:
